Australian made technology
Your skin is your largest organ. It protects you against many external factors, like micro-organisms, temperature changes and UV radiation. Microskin™ simulated skin technology is formulated to act exactly like your natural skin. It is a micro thin layer that is flexible, breathable and allows fluids to pass through it just like when our skin perspires due to a change in temperature.
The concentrations of ingredients in the Microskin™ film are carefully balanced to provide sufficient penetration which are just enough to hold the Microskin™ film firmly onto the skin and not allow high penetration into the Corneum layer. This balancing of components is precisely managed to provide elasticity of the dried film to produce the lasting durable properties that Microskin™ does. To prevent any blocking of sweat glands and hair follicles the ingredient balance is adjusted to allow the skin to “breathe” and perspiration to pass through the waterproof Microskin™ film. This brief description of the manner in which Microskin™ performs truly demonstrates its ability to function as a Simulated Skin.
The science of Microskin™
Microskin™ is a liquidised simulated skin
that performs in two distinct ways.
01
When the delivery agent of the Microskin™ film evaporates it leaves a waterproof film on the skins surface. The Microskin™ film is used to suspend active ingredient particles to which we use to develop the specialised and extremely unique range of Microskin™ products available today.
02
After the evaporation phase, the cellulosic and oil components in the Microskin™ film migrate towards the skins surface and partially enter the Corneum layer. This assists in binding the now dried Microskin™ film to the skins surface and provides exceptional elasticity to the Microskin™ film. As Microskin™ is formulated on more Lipophilic (Oil based) ingredients these components have a difficult job continuing further down the path of penetration in the Corneum layer due to the lower epidermal layer having a higher water concentration and therefore considered more Lipophobic (Oil resistant). As we all know water and oil do not mix easily – if at all.
